The Ant and the Cricket

Share Now

Once upon a time, in a sunny meadow, lived a busy Ant and a lazy Cricket.

All summer long, the Ant worked hard. She gathered food, built her house, and stored grains for winter. The Cricket, however, sang and danced in the sun.

“Why do you work so much?” laughed the Cricket. “Come play with me!”

“I’m preparing for the cold days ahead,” the Ant said with a smile. You should too.”

But the Cricket didn’t listen.

As winter arrived, the meadow became chilly and covered in snow. The Ant stayed warm in her house, eating the food she had saved. The Cricket had no food and no shelter. He was cold and hungry.

The Cricket went to the Ant and said, “Could you share some food with me, please?”

The kind Ant shared a little and said, “Next time, work while you can. Play is fun, but being ready is wise.”
