The Lost Dragon Egg
Leo knew he should not be in the Whispering Woods after dark. But when he saw a shooting star, his heart told him to follow.
Deep inside the forest, he found something magical. On a bed of glowing blue moss lay a large egg. It shimmered with colors of gold and purple, and it was warm to the touch.
Leo felt a soft sound in his mind, like a worried cry. The egg was alive… but alone.
Suddenly, a twig broke behind him. Shadows moved. Someone—or something—was watching. Quickly, Leo wrapped the egg in his jacket and ran home.
At home, he made a soft nest near the heater and whispered to the egg. A few days later, crack! The shell broke, and out came a tiny baby dragon. Its scales sparkled, and when it sneezed, silver smoke filled the air.
Leo laughed, but that night, he heard a deep, sorrowful roar from the forest. The dragon’s mother was still searching.
With a heavy heart, Leo knew what he had to do. The next morning, he carried the baby dragon back to the old oak tree. Soon, a giant silver dragon appeared. She gently picked up her baby and then looked at Leo with kind eyes.
In his mind, he heard her warm voice:
“Thank you, little guardian.”
As she flew away with her child, one glowing silver scale floated down into Leo’s hand. It was a gift of friendship—more precious than any treasure.
