The Hare and the Tortoise – A Moral Story

Share Now

Once upon a time, there lived a fast hare and a slow tortoise in a forest. The hare loved to run and jump all day.

One sunny morning, the hare laughed and said,

”  Tortoise, you walk so slow, even a leaf falls faster than you!”

The tortoise smiled and replied kindly,

“That may be true, but I always keep going. Want to race and see?”

The hare laughed loudly. ” Okay! Let’s do it!”

All the animals came to watch. The race began. The hare ran so fast that he was out of sight in seconds. But soon, he saw a soft, grassy spot under a tree.

“I’m so fast! I’ll take a little nap. The tortoise is far behind,” he yawned.

While the hare slept, the tortoise kept walking slowly.

When the hare woke up, the tortoise was near the finish line!

The hare jumped up and ran as fast as he could but it was too late. The tortoise crossed the finish line first! All the animals cheered.

The tortoise said,

“Slow and steady wins the race.”
