The Grumpy Rock
On top of a green hill, there lived a big gray rock named Rocky. He was always grumpy.
“Go away!” he shouted at the ants.
“Shoo!” he yelled at the lizards.
Rocky wanted to be alone. He thought other creatures were too noisy.
One day, a strong wind blew across the hill. A baby bird fell from its nest and landed near Rocky. The little bird was cold and scared.
Rocky looked at the tiny bird. For the first time, he didn’t feel grumpy. He felt something new—care.
Rocky stayed still and let his big shadow block the cold wind. The bird cuddled close to him and felt warm and safe.
Soon, the mother bird returned. She chirped happily and took her baby back to the nest.
From that day, Rocky changed. He was not so grumpy anymore. He let lizards rest on him, ants walk over him, and even enjoyed the cool wind. Rocky had learned that kindness brings more joy than being alone.
