One hot afternoon, a hungry fox was walking through the forest. As he passed by some trees, he saw a bunch of juicy, purple grapes hanging high on a vine. They looked sweet and tasty, and the fox’s mouth started to water. “I must get those grapes!” he said to himself. He took a few steps back, ran, and jumped—but he missed. He tried again and again, but the grapes were just too high. After many tries, the fox became tired and sat down under the tree. He looked up at the grapes and said, “Those grapes are probably sour anyway.” Then he turned away and walked off, still hungry. This short story is called “The Fox and the Grapes.”
